All right. I know that I shouldn't complain. I work at a place that provides everyone with a decent sized office with a door. An honest too goodness door that you can shut. And I am one of the very fortunate ones. I have a large office with 3 windows, so I am lucky enough to see the outside world during the day.
But in the winter, this office is turns into the Arctic. I am waiting for the penguins to move in. On Friday, the temperature at noon reached an all-time low: a bone-chilling 63.9 degrees. Now, if I was outside moving around, maybe that wouldn't be so bad, but sitting at a computer all day, that temperature is almost unbearable. I sit on a heating pad wrapped in a blanket, an NC State blanket, of course. Every hour, I go into the bathroom and run my hands under boiling hot water, just so I can feel my hands again.
People come in and shake their heads in sympathy, but no one seems to be able to fix the problem. I just don't understand why. Goodness knows, I have complained often enough and everyone seems to admit that there is a problem. So if no one can fix the problem, then I have a solution. Let me work from home. I swear I would get more work done. :-)
