A Little Less Conversation

Because I am technically on vacation this week, I am finally allowed to check my work email. (You aren't allowed to check email while on short-term disability or FMLA status.)

Holy moley!!! I am wading through over 1000 messages. (Thankfully alot of them are spam. I think in Russian?) But seriously. Wasn't e-mail supposed to make communication easier? I think it is causing more trouble in some cases. People, pick up the phone! Or at least don't copy the woman out on maternity leave until you have a resolution.

I had that problem when I was on vacation. They would get the "Out Of Office" reply, my boss would tell them I was out, but people just kept copying me on *everything*. Except the important stuff that I really needed to know about, of course....

Not allowed to check email? That's horrible. I don't think I would be able to handle that. I can't believe your inbox was able to hold that many emails without filling up! All you need to do is sort your email by conversation and read the first and last one. All the rest is filler.
