I Guess That's One Way to Lose 5 Pounds

You could say that we had an interesting weekend. On Saturday, I was hosting a bridal shower for a friend of mine from college. As you know by now, this is a big feat for me considering how much I prefer to remain a wallflower at most parties. Thankfully, I married a very smart, understanding guy, who knew that trying to host this at our house would be too much for me. So I reserved us space at a local tea room. They would handle the food, decorations, etc. All I had to do was make sure the guests knew how to get there and entertainment.

So naturally, I waited until Friday to organize some games, but I got them all done. (Thanks again to Brian's computer skills.) I was feeling pretty comfortable about the whole thing.

I guess I got too comfortable. Friday afternoon, I started feeling a little sick. I didn't think too much about it because well I have blood sugar problems. I often feel queasy if I don't eat right. I tried eating a snack, but that didn't seem to help. Brian knew that I was crashing, so he surprised me with a sandwich and fries from Chik-Fil-A. It was so sweet of him, but I couldn't eat it. Me turning down the Polynesian Sauce from Chik-Fil-A? I should have known something was wrong.

Friday night, it hit. The mother of all stomach flus. Well, at least for me. I have a lot of stomach problems, but I can't remember the last time I had a stomach flu like that. And Saturday morning, I wasn't any better. I felt so sick. But there was still this shower where I was the hostess and responsible for paying!!! I had to go. Somehow, I made it through, and thankfully, there were no international incidents that the bride will remember for years to come.

I think it was fate's way of telling me not to volunteer to throw showers. Wallflowers are better running things behind the scenes.

I will join you with being a wallflower! I do not like to be in charge of planning anything... way too stressful. I'm glad B was there to help you out!

Sorry to hear you were sick, but i hope you are doing much better now. One of the worst things in the world is puking, and having to deal with it coming out both ends (like most stomach flus do), is absolutely horrible!

I'm glad you made it through the shower and the weekend. I am still amazed that you volunteered to throw the party...

I can sympathize. I had the stomach flu about a month ago. It hit hard, and I was down for the count for about 5 days. I don't think I've ever been that sick, but I managed to stay hydrated, luckily. I hope you're feeling better.
