Hug a Tree Today

I don't know what is up with my neighbors (both my office neighbors and my house neighbors). Must have heard of recycling. I know that I am not environmentally perfect, but I at least try. In fact, I probably drive Brian crazy over it sometimes. I know I drove my mom crazy. She was convinced that when I left for college that I would join an environmental "cult". (I'm sure Greenpeace and the Sierra Club would love to know that they are cults.)

Anyway, I can't believe what my neighbors throw away. My office neighbors love to throw away paper. White paper, newspapers, even paperback books. I stared in disbelief at the novels in my neighbors trash last week. I mean, really. Couldn't he have put those in the breakroom? Apparently, someone else was appalled, because the books were fished out of the trash.

Now, our house neighbor . . . he is really strange. Months ago, he threw away a toilet (which the garbage truck didn't pick up so he had a toilet sitting in front of his house for weeks) and last week, there was a lawnmower sticking out of his trash can.

Between all these neighbors, I feel like I need to compensate for my neighbors. Like plant a new tree every day.

isn't there some neighborhood ordinance that deals with toilets in the yard?

That is why I am always trying to pawn off my stuff to The Salvation Army or another organization. Someone could use a toilet! Doesn't Habitat for Humanity and places like that take em? Donate books to a library! I am not tree hugger but it hurts to see stuff like that in the trash. I have 2 broken lawnmowers in my backyard because I won't take them to the landfill.

We do have neighborhood ordinances, but this guy ignores them. :-( I mean after all, what can they do? He owns the house.
