WARNING: Sad story. :-(
We might not know our human neighbors, but we definitely know who are furry neighbors are. The psychotic dog who belongs to the kids three doors down. Or Max, the old gray and white cat, of our next door neighbor. So when someone new moves into the neighborhood we notice.
Our yard is very attractive to the neighborhood felines. I think it is because of the wooded lot next door and the creek. To Monty and Zoey's chagrin and irritation, we often have visitors stop by, especially early in the morning.
Yesterday evening, I went outside to clean the cat boxes (yippee)! I don't know why Brian was outside, but while I was in the shower, he told me that he had found our neighbors cat in the side yard near the creek. I don't know how Brian could be so calm. I think he was holding it together because he didn't want to upset me. But I almost threw up in the shower. I was so upset. It was like losing a good friend. Of course, then Brian had to go tell our neighbor and deal with all that. I couldn't deal with any of it. I just stayed inside.
It turns out that Patches was an old kitty, and she had been sick for a while. At least, there is some comfort in knowing that she was enjoying our side yard when she died.
I really feel bad for Brian though. I know how much he loves kitties. And this time of year is especially hard since it has been 5 years since we lost Cleo. Last night, I think Brian could have used a stiff drink.

That is sad! Thank goodness Brian found him instead of you though.
Yes, Brian can definitely handle his liquor better than I can.
Oh I am so sad to hear this!!!
