I hate group activities. And it seems like this time of year, I am "cordially invited" to tons of group activities at work. Why do we have to pretend that we want to go to these things? I don't want to sit around in a room with 80+ people and make small talk. Or listen to their funny holiday stories, or guess who brought what ornament for the tree, or vote for who brought the best dessert.
Now, I have to confess the quiz bowl team this year is enticing, but that's only because the subject is presidental trivia. And I am tempted to bring my Oreo cheesecake to the dessert competition. But what is the point? It is all just a farce.

agreed! i refuse to attend most of the work functions if possible. most of them happen in another office, so it makes it easier to skip them. the xmas party is here next fri so i'll either participate or call in 'gay' to work. they ppl at the other office get pissy if we don't wanna go over to their parties, but really, it's gonna take more than cupcakes and potato chips to entice me to drive 15 min and deal with the parking situation over there. and another thing, i don't particularly want to eat someone else's mystery casserole.
Hey you could just bring me the oreo cheesecake instead and I would be more than happy to read you questions from Trivial Pursuit cards!
Ooooh. That's a good idea, Leslie.
